CLIENT: NHS ENGLAND
Caring through design
NHS England and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust commissioned the development of an interactive self-help booklet intended for use by clinicians within crisis teams. The primary aim of the resource is to facilitate structured, therapeutic dialogue between healthcare professionals and individuals presenting with suicidal thoughts.
The publication was designed to support collaborative safety planning and promote engagement through guided self-reflection. Careful consideration was given to the tone and presentation, ensuring the material was approachable and reassuring without compromising clinical integrity or professionalism.
The booklet features a range of interactive components, including reflective question boxes, evidence-informed motivational statements, and detachable quote cards. These elements are intended to encourage patient participation, foster a sense of agency, and strengthen the therapeutic alliance during crisis intervention.
